Learn more about your new neighbors ... plus, their advice on building a home!
We're starting a new series here at the Sterling Ranch Roundup called "Meet Your Neighbors." I can't think of a better way to start the series than by profiling two of my favorite Sterling Ranch friends and clients, Amanda and Nathan!
This lovely newlywed couple just finished building their incredible new home in December - be sure to check out the massive master closet and first floor mini-suite in this 3D tour - and the Christmas decorations are already up!
I was so fortunate to have had the opportunity to help Amanda and Nathan build their dream home, and I can't wait to hear about all the friends and memories they make together in Sterling Ranch.
So, here's a little about Amanda and Nathan! They're both Colorado natives who grew up on the east side of Denver and love the outdoors, including fishing and hiking. They met at a housewarming party Amanda's cousin had at her house and instantly hit it off. The rest is history!
What led them to Sterling Ranch?
They lived in Stapleton before moving to Sterling Ranch, and walking around Stapleton with their dogs they saw Parkwood's homes. They knew they wanted to have more space and to really feel like they lived in Colorado. When they saw the views of the foothills in Sterling Ranch, it was love at first sight! The community has easy access to the foothills, Chatfield, Roxborough, and downtown Littleton, and it's a quick drive to downtown on Sante Fe, which is a big plus for them.
What are they most excited about when it comes to Sterling Ranch?
They're looking forward to finding their Sterling Ranch tribe and building a beautiful community together. They also can't wait for more parks, walking trails, open space, swimming pools, and community events like movies in the park, farmer markets, food trucks and more.
What's their advice for people looking to build a new home in Sterling Ranch?
There are great opportunities for mountain views, they said, so when you select your lot go out and assess the land so you get a feel for whether you'll have views or not. You also may get a view but not realize it at first!
If you're able to tweak your floorplan, try to ensure your most-used rooms are on the west side of your home. (This is great advice by the way - in my experience some builders may consider modifying floorplans and even moving your home location on your lot, but this depends on the builder and can also require re-recording plans so negotiating properly and understanding what the builders can and can't do is key!)
What was their favorite part of the building process?
Selecting the features and finishes in the home was their favorite (mine, too!). They were able to customize their home to maximize square footage and ended up adding a full bedroom and full bath on the main level instead of having a formal dining room. (Another great idea, by the way, especially from a home resale perspective - main floor bedrooms are in demand and help resale value). They also added a linen closet in the hall upstairs which wasn't on the original floor plan.
Amanda and Nathan are absolutely wonderful - be sure to welcome them when you see them! And if you're interested in being featured in the Roundup's "Meet your neighbor" series, shoot me an e-mail at mariel@focus-realtors.com.
