The new recreation center is planned to be located on the eastern perimeter of Providence Village, overlooking the "Providence Lake & Park"
See the bottom of this post for an update.
Summertime and swimming pools belong together, and as we approach the summer months, I have good news - Providence Village will have its own, beautiful recreation center! The above and below renderings give you an idea of what this community focal point will look like. Although timelines and plans are always subject to change with a new community like Sterling Ranch, from what I've been able to gather it appears that the recreation center will include a swimming pool, clubhouse, and fitness facility and may be completed as early as 2019.
If you're curious about the anticipated location of the recreation center, check out this map of Providence Village. On the map titled "The First Village - Providence Village at Sterling Ranch", you'll see the words "Rec Center" at the top of the map and a line that points to the current proposed site for the center. The map at the bottom of the page shows the same general location (though it's labeled "Future Rec Center"). After reviewing plats and developer filings, there's not a lot of publicly-available information about what might be included within the new facility quite yet - I'm guessing Sterling Ranch's developers are focused on completing the amazing Sterling Center first (which is going up fast!) before leaning too far forward on the recreation center. Regardless, I'll update this Roundup post as I learn more.
On a related note, here's a quick (unsolicited) tip. If you're considering building or purchasing a new home in Sterling Ranch, in my experience proximity to swimming pools and recreation facilities within newer, family-oriented communities can help with home valuation and resale prices. For example, in Stapleton, which for those who don't know is a newer community close to DIA that features several of the same builders that Sterling Ranch does (e.g., Parkwood, Wonderland, etc.), a home next to a community pool can sell for a $15,000-$30,000 premium. You might want to keep this in mind when looking at lots and homes!
For those who need to hit the gym early and often, until the recreation center is completed there are more than a dozen workout facilities within 5-15 minutes of Sterling Ranch. You can find Orange Theory, pilates, Crossfit, yoga, and traditional gyms all along Santa Fe and Highlands Ranch Parkway. I'll feature a few of these businesses in a future Roundup post, but suffice to say Littleton, Highlands Ranch, and Roxborough have an abundance of gyms - so you'll always be able to "get your sweat on", Sterling Ranch residents!
Note: I will update this post as more information on the recreation center becomes available.
Note 2: Here's an update from Sterling Ranch's official website. A pool, patio deck, a community exercise facility, high-end locker room facilities, and a great hall! And you'll have access to the exercise facility as part of your home ownership!
