"Solstice" is located just north of Sterling Ranch; new homes could arrive in 2020
Littleton's Chatfield State Park. Solstice will be located near the top of the photograph.
November 2019 Update: Check out the Solstice Scoop for up-to-date news about Solstice. Shea is currently building models, and floorplans and elevations have been released. Sterling Ranch, meet your future neighbor, Solstice! Shea Homes is building a new community just south of Chatfield Reservoir and north of Sterling Ranch called Solstice. Douglas County approved the new community in 2017, and preliminary work on the site has begun.
Because Solstice is so new, there's not much information available yet. So we here at the Sterling Ranch Roundup reviewed public filings to learn more about our future neighbor. Keep in mind that like any larger, master planned community, various aspects of Solstice might change, but as your Sterling Ranch realtor I wanted to give you the early scoop!
Solstice borders the southeastern perimeter of Chatfield Reservoir and will include up to 1,1oo Shea homes. The High Line Canal will play a prominent role in the community, as it bisects Solstice into two large parcels.
The Solstice site plan. The High Line Canal bisects the property.
A series of parks and open spaces will run along parts of the Canal. Also, if you're familiar with the circular Canal dirt access lot on Roxborough Park Road, a public school will be located due south of the lot across the Canal.
Speaking of schools, Solstice is located in the Douglas County School District and will include a school of its own. Add Solstice's school to the 5 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, and 1 high school anticipated to be built in Sterling Ranch (learn more about Sterling Ranch's current schools here: Roxborough Primary, Ranch View Middle School, and ThunderRidge High School), and the Sterling Ranch-Solstice-Roxborough corridor will have plenty of local schools for families - and plenty of families with school-age kids.
The eastern side of Solstice. The school is in the top right portion of the picture along the Canal.
A new access road will be built that connects Solstice to the Sterling Ranch roundabout on Titan Road (the big roundabout next to the Sterling Center).
The community will also have 143 acres of open space, including local and regional trails, and a recreation center. Here's hoping Solstice and Sterling Ranch find a way in time to connect their various trail systems at some point.
Shea was kind enough to provide a statement to the Roundup on Solstice (thanks Shea!), so I'll let them have the last word. And now, here's the last word from Shea:
Shea’s excited to be moving forward on this project and we anticipate offering several home collections for both first-time, move-up and active lifestyle buyers at Solstice. Most of 2019 will be devoted to preparing the land and developing infrastructure for this community. And though it’s too soon to provide any specific information on timing or pricing at this moment, we’re hopeful that the first homes/homesites may become available for purchase in early 2020.
Welcome Shea and Solstice!
