Grab your sunscreen! New reserved swim beach area at Chatfield

Sterling Ranch residents now enjoy a reserved beach area at Chatfield State Park

Grab your beach balls, towels, and goggles, Sterling Ranch residents! Sterling Ranch's Community Authority Board (CAB) recently announced that on select summer swim beach days, Sterling Ranch residents will enjoy a reserved area on Chatfield's swim beach.

The swim beach is located on the west side of Chatfield State Park. In the picture below, you can see the swim beach on the right side of the picture hugging the reservoir, close to both a parking lot and access road. Also, though there's a designated area for all Sterling Ranch residents, the swim beach will be open for other visitors as well.

Here are the reserved swim beach dates and times:

11:00 AM - 8:00 PM

June 18 - 20

June 25 - 27

July 9 - 11

July 16 - 18

July 30 - August 1

August 13 - 15

Note that for all June dates, you'll need to use Chatfield's north entrance (off Wadsworth) to access the beach.

In addition to the reserved swim beach news, Chatfield is also putting the finishing touches on a $160 million improvement project. As part of that project, Chatfield is almost doubling the amount of water the reservoir holds (the reservoir will go from 27,000 acre feet of water to 47,000 acre feet of water), in addition to other improvements like new boat ramps, marina, trails, and more. So the timing of Sterling Ranch's reserved swim beach couldn't be better!

Here are a few swim beach reminders from the CAB, and of course remember to abide by all regular swim beach rules and regulations while in the park:

(1) No glass bottles, animals, or charcoal/wood fires or grills are allowed on the beach.

(2) Restrooms are available close to the swim beach for public use.

(3) Picnic tables and grills are nearby for use on a first come, first serve basis.

(4) Feel free to bring any paddleboards, kayaks, or fishing equipment to use at your leisure.

Last but not least, don't forget your parks pass, which you'll need to enter Chatfield. Another great Sterling Ranch amenity is that each household receives one free Colorado State Parks pass annually - so throw your pass in your beach bag before you head over to the swim beach!

Great job, CAB! I can't wait to see all my Sterling Ranch friends over at Chatfield this summer. Don't forget your sunscreen!
